A partire dal 19 novembre u.s. è disponibile il numero 21 di Hither Shore, rivista della Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft (DTG), ossia la Società Tolkieniana Tedesca. La pubblicazione può essere ordinata su amazon.de, cui rimanda direttamente il link presente sulla pagina di annuncio nel sito della DTG (ma per eventuali italiani interessati è ordinabile anche su amazon.it).
L’Associazione
La Deutsche Tolkien Gesellschaft è l’equivalente tedesco della Tolkien Society inglese, benché più giovane di quest’ultima di quasi trent’anni essendo stata fondata nel 1997/98. Come tutte le società analoghe, ha lo scopo di promuovere la conoscenza della vita e delle opere di J.R.R. Tolkien attraverso l’organizzazione di eventi (convegni, seminari, presentazioni e simili), senza dimenticare aspetti più conviviali quali cene e cosplay. La DTG produce regolarmente due pubblicazioni, il bollettino in tedesco (con sommario bilingue) Flammifer von Westernis e la rivista bilingue Hither Shore, giunta per l’appunto al numero 21.
Il nuovo numero
Il numero 21 di Hither Shore, curato da Thomas Fornet-Ponse, Thomas Honegger ed Evelyn Koch, si compone di 214 pagine, al costo di 24€, e raccoglie, oltre ad altri articoli, i contributi presentati al ventesimo Tolkien Seminar tenutosi dall’11 al 13 ottobre 2024 presso l’Università di Aachen (Aquisgrana) nel Nord Reno Westfalia, con il tema Tolkien and his editors (ossia “Tolkien e i suoi editori”, quali Stanley e Rayner Unwin, ma anche “i suoi curatori”, come Alan Bliss e, in primis, Christopher Tolkien). Tra le opere recensite nella rivista compare The Mismeasure of Orcs: A Critical Reassessment of Tolkien’s Demonized Creatures, di Robert T. Tally Jr., versione riveduta e ampliata del testo che abbiamo tradotto e pubblicato nei Saggi AIST di dicembre 2025 (lo trovate qui).
